Baggett's perspective as a black, Jewish woman in the US South as well as immersion in a myriad of Jewish traditions informs her acrylic and multi media works. She pairs emotional palettes of color - sometimes very muted and sometimes teeming with chutzpah - with defined lines juxtaposed with splatters, smudges, and smears to reflect the varying structures Jewish observance. The results are abstract works of visual midrash.
As a storyteller, Baggett finds space in between the lines of biblical, Talmudic, and classic Jewish stories and myths. Her compelling narratives provide an entertaining level of drama and dimension while bringing classic themes full circle with right now relevance.
